Press the button below. Your browser will save a small file called sanitymode-extension.zip to your Downloads folder.

Type chrome://extensions into your address bar and press Enter. Flip the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner.

Will it slow down my browser?+
No. Filtering runs locally as lightweight pattern matching on text that's already on the page — no network calls, no model downloads, no waiting. On a mid-range laptop the scan averages under 4 ms per page. You'd need a stopwatch to notice.
Does it work on Safari or Firefox?+
Not yet — SanityMode currently targets Chromium browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc, Opera). A Firefox build is in QA and a Safari version is on the roadmap. Drop your email in the box above the fold and we'll ping you the day yours ships.
What if I want the news back?+
One click. Toggle Snooze for 15 min / 1 hr / today from the popup, or hit ⌘⇧S to disable site-wide. You can also whitelist specific sources (NYT, NatGeo, your friend's blog) so they're never touched. Nothing is hidden permanently — every quieted item shows a tiny dot you can click to bring it back.
Is this censoring what I see?+
You're the only censor — SanityMode just runs the rules you toggle. We never hide friends' posts, DMs, messages, search results you typed, or anything you actively asked for. It only quiets algorithmic feeds, ads, and recommended content. And it tells you when it's done something, so you can always undo it.
Does SanityMode read everything?+
Filtering happens locally in your browser. We sent zero network requests at install, send zero at runtime, and send zero ever. The live counter in the hero proves it — open DevTools → Network and watch it stay at zero. Forever.
